This is a Cedar Waxwing. Not only is it a new bird to my life list, but I photographed it in the backyard in Rockwood.
The 3rd photo shows the coloring if you enlarge. You can see the red tip on the wing and the yellow at the end of the tail. The 4th photo is partially blocked, but thought I should keep it for identifcation purposes.

Here you go again with your beautiful bird photos! I love the twisted look to the limbs of the tree.
Congratulatins on the "Lifer" Leedra. They are fairly common here in the summer. I have a similar photo of several sitting in a dead tree in a small pond nearby. Catching flying insects methinks!
Wow Leedra... I've never seen this guy in the Glade. When you see him again, please tell him to come and visit us!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
Aren't they lovely? They look like women with perfect make-up.
Thanks for all the good information on identifying this bird. We'll keep our eyes open for him.
Betsy - And you sure can't have this fellow. I had being thinking of giving you directions to the Rockwood house...on 2nd thought...nope!
Leedra: Very cool shot, I also got a photo this year.
I have never seen a cedar waxwing! Love seeing your photos.
I like Lynne's description of these gorgeous birds. I don't get these birds in my backyard. I guess I'll have to plant the right bushes or trees to attract them since I know they do visit this county I live in. Leedra, it's great you have them visiting you.
Congratulations on a life bird. These events are always special. The photos are great.
Blessings,Ruth
This was the first year I've seen one of these too. Awesome birds!
