We were in the car pulling out of Lake Seminole Park when my husband saw this male Red Bellied Woodpecker. Naturally stopped and grabbed the camera.

He definitely was either cacheing some food or broadening that hole in the tree!
Beautiful colors in that Red-bellied. Mine (who comes to our feeder off and on all day long) has his dull winter colors now!!
He's wonderful! And the photo looks like a painting!
It is great to see these in a natural setting,not at a feeder.Mind you I would love them at my feeder or anywhere.
