Alligators that look like logs

These alligators were all photographed along Hwy 41 in the Everglades. Alligator Alley is now I-75, so we chose to travel Hwy 41 instead. That way we could stop along the way to photograph the alligators and birds.
Alligators love to bask in the sun.

They also like to hide in the water.

Guess that is how they hunt.

By the looks of those guys I'd say they are a good size. I'm not a big fan of them but these are great pictures of the bad boys.

Wonderful pics even though they scare me to death!

Those alligators sort of resemble spiny lizards we have in the desert, only much bigger and scary-looking! Amazing photos!

Interesting pics. Doesn't look like a good place for a swim though. :)

Troutbirder - Don't think I would try it with your waders on either.

I will take pictures of the gators--but don't want to get very close to them. We visited the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine once--and I enjoyed it--but that's as close as I want to EVER get. ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Betsy - I went to the alligator farm last April during the Florida Birding FotoFest...not to see the alligators, to see the bird rookery. It is awesome...there are so many Spoonbills, Snowy Egrets, Great Egrets, Blue Herons, Tri-colored Heron, Wood Storks, Cattle Egret all building their nest. It was awesome to see and be there so close to their nest and they don't even care. The aren't contained they just come there naturally.
