Took these photos, but was not sure what I had.
Took these photos, but was not sure what I had. So I sent the first 4 photos to Hap from New Hope for help in the id.
Hap suggested I send the same photos to Cornell University. 
Notice the Brown Headed Nuthatch is even trying to check out this new bird to 'his' feeder.
Hap suggested I send the same photos to Cornell University. I did and they answered me this afternoon that the bird is a Purple Finch.
I was so glad....another new one on my lifer list.

I felt fairly confident about it being a Purple Finch but still was not sure.

I never even thought I would hear back from Cornell,
so I am pretty excited about this really being a Purple Finch.

Great pictures Leedra; how exciting for you! Although they are supposed to be where I live in Minnesota, I haven't seen any at my feeders.
This is great! Love the nuthatch peeking over at the finch. ha!
I have that same blue feeder, it is the one that the chickadees think is a seed bell and all they do is peck at the clear plastic case trying to get the seeds. So funny to watch them.

Oh Man---you got some wonderful pictures of the Purple Finch. He's gorgeous--and he really is a 'raspberry' color. I compared mine with yours--and I think mine is just a House Finch..

I have not seen a brown-headed nuthatch....so you have shown me something new.
Your purple finch definitely has a darker shade than I"m used to seeing on my purple finches. Still a handsome guy!
