The Red Bellied Woodpecker and the Yellow Bellied Sapsucker share the same tree. I cannot seem to get good photos of the Sapsucker.
So I will settle for the Red Bellied Woodpecker.
She took one look at me, and off she went.
But those treats I smeared on the side of the tree were too much to resist.

She was back in a few minutes.
I now have suet, and I placed it on the other side of the tree so I can get her in the morning light next time, instead of in the shade of the tree.
She was on the wrong side of the tree for the time of day I was photographing her. Be sure and enlarge the last photo to see the food in her bill.

How very pretty! Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Good morning Leedra-I like how you captured her with food in her beak. Neat picture!
Whatever! You always have great photos!!
The sapsuckers tend to really blend in making it hard to get their photo. These are great of the Red-Bellied!
It looks like our Red-Bellied visited you while we were gone. Great pictures!
I think this is a really pretty bird! and yes, the sun makes a lot of difference in so many ways. :)
Hi Leedra! Great shots. I can't remember how to tell the M from the F in the RBWP. I do see you called this one F. Hummm. will have to look that up. I too posted the Red-Bellied WP today! Wonder what He/She is?
Yay Spring!

Hi Leedra, Great pictures of the Red-bellied.. My Pete and Petunia are still here---and Pete even tried to come to the hanging feeder this week... I had never seen him do that--especially since I had the suet out. Guess he enjoys the sunflower seeds more than the suet!!???
Happy St. Patty's Day!
Hugs,
Betsy

PS - Pita is my niece!
Good idea,to place the feed so you have the best photo ops.Waiting to see the birds in the sunshine.
