Last Thursday we put up one new bluebird box.
Saturday this pair of Eastern Bluebirds were checking it out.
We bought another house, but have not put it up yet.
These boxes are well worth the $10 Walmart charges for them.
Mostly God's creations through my lens. Sometimes old buildings and such. Sometimes my own creations through hand knitting and needle felting. And sometimes just life as it is happening.

Aren't those bluebirds just precious?!? Wonderful pictures Leedra.
We put up a bluebird house a couple of weeks ago but still no takers.
I got mine at Wal-Mart too!
precious photos! And thanks for the heads up on Walmarts selling them for $10 - I'm headed over there to get some! (Not sure if I'll get bluebirds - but I know my chickadees will use them!)
Oh how sweet... Those bluebirds will be making babies there for years and years. I bought one of those same boxes at Lowe's last year. So far, nothing has looked at it (that I know of).
Hugs,
Betsy
Susie and Betsy - It needs to be in your most open area, with the opening facing something they can sit on and totally see the box, especially the opening of the box. One of the the ones at home (not Rockwood) that the Leyland Cypress in front are beginning to grow up some and the Tree Swallows are now using it more than the Bluebirds for that reason. Also, be sure the opening is not facing the wind. If you don't have open spaces you may not get them to nest even if you see them around. Good luck.
Shelley - Veterans Park has boxes ALL over the park, guess that is why I see so many birds there (you think?). Yesterday right after I photographed the Bluebirds there the next box appeared to have a Chickadee or the Brown Headed Nuthatch come out of it. I was not close enough to tell for sure, and it didn't hang around. I was leaning more toward it being a Chickadee.
Yes,those boxes are worth the price if they attract Bluebirds.Should make for an exciting summer.
Blessings,Ruth
Last year I had a pair check mine out but they never moved in. :( I'm hoping this year they will move on in. :)
We haven't seen any bluebirds in our boxes yet, but we are hopeful. I love these pictures of yours.
How cute they are! lovely shots you have there.
Great shots.
