Rockwood outbuilding

This 'paper' nest is inside one of the out buildings at the house in Rockwood. Jimmy says it is a wasp nest, but it does not look like one to me. Each of the tubes is so long, looks like something else to me.
I showed some of this building in the original post about the house in Rockwood. This building is behind the house, has 3 bays for cars. The appearance of the whole building is not that great, because it has the newer metal doors and I think it takes away from the appearance of the old look.
This light fixture is a great example of what I don't like. Oh, and the house had a tarp on the roof when we bought the house. That tarp is garbage now (we have a roof!), and but now there is a tarp on this old building. Probably won't get a new roof on it until Spring, but Jimmy will do that work himself.
Last week Jimmy and his brother stepped through the garage opening below this loft and a yellow tabby tom cat leaped out of this opening and went for the woods. Guess we also got ourselves a barn cat.
Possibly a better photograph of the nest. You can click to enlarge.

Great pictures of your barn -- they have a great deal of 'atmosphere'. I would recommend getting rid of the wasp nest, however.

Definitely a wasp nest... Get rid of that QUICKLY!!!! I know it's 'pretty' for a picture--but you don't want that in the spring!!!!

Love the old building out back!!! Great pictures.

Betsy

Once I explored the inside of a Hornet's nest and inside it looks kind of like a wasp's nest. I think what you have is the beginning of a Hornet's nest. I like the old building, as you can see on my post today.

I agree w/ the rest - get rid of your wasp nest so you're not getting chased and stung later this year. I do love the old worn look of that wooden building.

Paper wasp! We have a lot of them around here. I remember some of these photos and you didn't like the light fixture then either.

Leedra, your barn photos are perfect.

What a neat old barn! The wasp nest is cool too but be careful. :)

Whatever it is, a can of Raid is in order.

Leedra I've shot a lot of wasp's nests and have never seen one like this...awesome! I'm glad to hear that you're keeping the gold kitty!

I still like the looks of the house--even that light sort of. It just reminds me of an old time place if it had a different lightbulb in it.

That's what my wasp's nests look like, and they accumulate in every eve on my house. shivers...
