2 Great Blue Herons at Veterans Park

I have not been to Spring City since before Christmas,
these photographs were taken late September 2008. When he flew I must have been looking in the direction of the sun, because all of the photos while he was flying are a little hazy.
Notice the 2nd Great Blue Heron in the background.

Good Sunday Morning, Leedra!
I think this is a great series of the Blue Heron! A few of these are in our area. Sometimes I see one at our lake.

Beautiful pictures as usual, Leedra.

Beautiful Leedra. I especially like the 2nd one--but they are all good.

Freezing rain here last night. No snow--but cloudy and cold this morning.
Hugs,
Betsy

Leedra, I love to watch these birds fly, very graceful for their size. You have a 2fer in the last pic!

They still look cold to me--even if it was in September. I love that last shot with the second one in the background.

Lovely GBHs Leedra! Vacationing in the GSMs in August. Can't wait to see the sites you've so beautifully displayed on your blog. BTW, any recommendations on cabins/rentals in the area?

Leedra said...

MicheleRF - Actually I don't because we live so close. Don't ever overnight in the Smokies.

Hazy or not, they are still great captures of the bird in flight.

You captured his massive wingspan well - and I love the last photo w/ the 2nd heron in the background - it's a nice surprise!

Very nice! I never manage those in flight shots very well. Takes me forever to find the focus.

I love the heron's ability to be so patient.

I love the photo with the 2nd Blue Heron. This photo is really neat because the Heron's are facing opposite directions.
