Geraniums will bloom in the winter in Tennessee, just have them inside. Most people save their geraniums over the winter by digging them and hanging them upside down and then replanting in the spring. I never had much luck with that, hit or miss.
So last year when it came time to bring in the outside potted plants I decided I would try just moving this one to the glassed in porch. It does stay rather cool out there, not heated. But it is warm enough for the Geranium to actually like it. This is the 2nd year to have blooms through the winter.
I also have a walk up attic (like the old houses) that has a window. That is where I put most of my outside potted plants during the winter. They do better there than they did next to a window in the basement at our last house.

I desparately needed that splash of color on this gray day.
Leedra: Looks like you are giving them good care.
Leedra,
Your flowers are so pretty and colorful. I being in my Martha Washington Geraniums and put them in my sewing room and there they sit over the winter..they do bloom indoors around March! This year I have a potted pansy on my back porch, which is enclosed but not heated, and believe it or not even with 13 degrees outside today...it is still thriving and has flowers!! Enjoyed your post. :)
What the heck? Hanging them upside down? I also never thought of even bring them in...........very pretty!
Darla - That is because you don't really have a winter. :) It is cold here this year. Suppose to be 9 tonight.
Tina - Thank you for visiting. I have been by and love your blog. Hope to see you around.
Good morning, Leedra!
Your Geraniums are beautiful! Love the color. I've heard of the upside down method of keeping them, but never tried it. I like your new blog.

Hi Friend, I have two big pots of geraniums and they stay in our garage all winter. I've done this for several years and they do well. I keep my hanging baskets of begonias in the garage also--and last year, they also came back.
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. I've never heard of hanging them upside down either... What's that all about?????
I never had any luck hanging geraniums upside down either. Betsy brings hers into the garage and they seem to do just fine.
Beautiful captures and I like the one right below this one too. Excellent shots!
