Bald Eagle

These photographs of a Bald Eagle were taken at the Florida Birding FotoFestival, April 2008.
Yes, this Eagle is in captivity, due to an injury. It was one of 3 birds they had on display. They also had a Hawk and Owl.
But while at the festival I did see 7 different Eagles. Five adults and 2 immature.
Naturally none were this close. It was wonderful seeing him as he screaming. There was no doubt where the name Screaming Eagle comes from.
This past July while enjoying some leasure time on the back deck I saw an Eagle fly straight over head. Naturally I did not have my camera in hand. Jimmy and I discussed this Eagle looked like he was on a mission. He was moving on, fast. I was checking out the information about Dolly Parton's eagle program the other day and found out they released several Eagles this past summer, from Douglas Lake. I live between Douglas and Cherokee lakes. Ginther has been seen as far away as Indiana, and Betsy Ross has been spotted in Canada, both in September.

Beautiful pictures, Leedra, of the eagle. I love them all--but there's something about that first one that I really like.

We were supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow this morning. It didn't happen. NOT a flake!!!! Am I surprised??? ha

Hugs,
Betsy

You definitely captured the fierce intelligent looks of their eyes! They are one of the most remarkable birds in my opinion! (It's a tie for me between the Loons and the Eagles!)

Shelley - your humor just reaches out and gets a person, you had me laughing with the comment about the loon. You will do so good with this talk about blogging and birding.

When will we start seeing loon photos again?

I hate to see them in captivity, but what a wonderful photo opportunity and chance to see one so close. Terrific shots.

Great shots of the eagle. I can only see them at a distance here, but I have videotaped them at long range with a powerful lens in our elk range. I need to get some good eagle still photos.

Ruth said exactly what I was thinking. I've seen them in captivity but long to see one in the wild. You got some great shots!

These eagle pictures are so gorgeous - no one gets this close in the wild and I just love seeing the color and detail of the face, the eye...the beak...the feathers - just AWESOME!

Wonderful shot! They have to be about the most handsome bird and you captured it so well.

Your eagle shots are stunning and the background color is really appropriate for such a regal bird.
