Bear in the GSMNP

I thought I saw a ....BEAR!!!! Not very good, but I finally saw one, and actually captured a couple of photos, nothing to brag about though. Promised I would post these if I could before I left. These were taken yesterday. All the other photographs I took on Wednesday will have to wait until I return from vacation.

Only got one good one before he turned and went up the hill. For once, nobody chased him. Everybody stayed at the side of the road. Unless they followed after I left. When the bear left, I left. I have heard the park rangers can and will give tickets for chasing the animals. Should.

Darla got her snake, I got my bear. Darla, it didn't affect my appetite unless you consider right after this I was as hungry as a ........

LOL Leedra! Love the ending.

I have yet to see my first wild bear. I missed one by about 300 feet a few years ago. Had I been a faster hiker, I would have run across it.

Very cool! I love your photos of him! When we were in Gatlinburg years ago there was a Mama bear and three cubs just off the road in a tree and you have never seen such pandemonium! :-) The poor Ranger kept warning the people not to get too close, and they just wouldn't listen to him! It was a three-ring circus! People just don't get it, do they?

In the cabin we stayed in, a couple of bears visited our trash cans. We have some great video footage taken by my Mom (with the zoom) of one that just wanted to cross the road, but we were loading the car and he was nervous, so retreated back into the woods. But at one point, he looked like he was coming straight at Mom, and she said something she shouldn't have! :-) Ahh...those funny moments captured on video!
