These photographs of a pair of Silver Spotted Skippers was taken earlier in the year. The first 3 photographs are very similiar but notice in the first one the skipper in the back is turned looking at the one closer to the camera.
One thing I found interesting is the color difference of the wings together and the wings open.
I am still seeing a few butterflies, but it has turned fairly cool here this week so I don't guess I will be seeing them for long. Also, this morning saw 2 Eastern Bluebirds checking out my birdhouse on the deck (the one I had so many photos of the Tree Swallows at this past spring), I sure hope they were looking for a winter home and not crazy enough be starting another family this late.

I saw the tee-tiniest skipper today at work. I was sorry I didn't have my camera. He was so cute.
Fantastic shots.Hope those Bluebirds decide to stay with you for the winter.
Blessings,Ruth
It is almost as if the one is giving the other a look that says stay away from my flower!
Beautiful photo's!
I wish we would get bb here, they are so pretty.
Hi Leedra, The skippers are so pretty--and you got some great pictures of them. We've had very few different butterflies --but have had alot of Sulphurs in our yard this year.
Hope you are doing okay.. The photos are GREAT.
Hugs,
Betsy
Pretty little Skippers! Hope you are having a Happy Fall!
It's amazing how your photographs communicate the personalilty of these Skippers! I hope you have a skippy, care-free weekend!
Wow, that is so nice that you got the two of them together!
Great pictures, as always!
Great photo's as always. I always marvel at your composition. Your subject matter is always interesting. I frequently use your blogsite to look up something I've seen around my house and want to know more about it.
So fun to read and learn - I might have called these moths - oh dear. I have not surrounded myself with the right kinds of plants to draw in the butterflies.
We still have a few butterflies fluttering around, but probably not for long. I haven't seen any bluebirds lately.
very very pretty, Leedra!!
Thanks for sharing.
Take care and have a great weekend.
George - We always have Bluebirds through the winter, we even did in Rockwood last year. Guess that is the difference in the valley and on the plateau.
They really are different aren't they? Same shape of stripes but completely differently colored. I bet your bluebirds were just looking for a nice home to settle in for the cool weather. They'll be a treat this winter when all the butterflies are gone.
I like the way the one is looking at the other in the 4th picture. Your pictures are always so neat!
Leedra,
I tried to contact your email but got a message that I could not because it was not properly installed. I don't know if the problem is on my side or yours.
Email me at cpowell@mtnwaves.net and I will send the pattern.
Wonderful! I love seeing the inside of the wings...usually I just see their outside. They look great on that pink flower with the yellow center.
The last shot is gorgeous!
I found my first one this spring since I became involved with photography and I think the skippers are one of my favorites.
I saw a little bird today on my deck (no ID) but he had stuff in his mouth and I was wondering if he had nest building in mind.
Your pictures are all so nice, I really enjoy looking at them! The last one on this post is so beautiful, those butterflies remind me love/friendship, they really look like they're enjoying each other's company. I really like it :)
All beautiful pics..
the last one is my fav...the flower is beautiful..colors great..
They are darling! How fortunate to have two together!
Beautiful photos. It is really interesting to see the color differences.
Also the lilies in the previous post are exquisite.
You had quite a few butterflies this year! I like the close ups of these skippers busy at work!
Your posts are always so delightful.
Sunny :)
