I planted a package of seeds in the spring. The package says the seedlings emerge in 14-21 days. First I only got ONE out of the whole pack and it just now came up.The bud emerged late last week. The first 2 photos were taken Tuesday morning.
The next 4 photos were taken Friday morning as I left to go to a knitting workshop.
I really do like these flowers, and I guess they were worth the wait, just not worth the money I spent. Sure hope they come back next year. One plant for a package of seed is terrible.
The daylily, "Dainy Eyes", was taken Friday morning too. Still have a few blooms here and there, as you can see there are still more buds on this one.

I went to a knitting workshop on fairisle knitting. I am knitting a Christmas stocking, or two. The workshop was great! We found out earlier this week John and Lindsey's baby (due in February) is a girl. 2 grandsons, we were hoping for a granddaugther this time. Hope everybody is doing fine.

Too bad you got only one plant, but,it is pretty. It's so exciting to be waiting for a grandchild.I trust all will go well.
Blessings,Ruth
That one plant is pretty special. Lovely color! Have fun with the knitting...I used to want to learn how to knit. Congrats on the girl baby!!!!
Congrats on the granddaughter! And this is a beautiful flower, vibrant purple is one of my fave flower color.
Fairisle knitting, now that's a worth while project, using the angora wools too? I can't wait to see the stockings.
Sorry you only got one flower from the entire package--but it surely is pretty. Maybe it will spread next year. Our daylilies are gone now. Yours are still pretty. We still have some roses and the Impatiens and Vinca are still blooming. AND--we are finally getting some color up here.
Congrats on an upcoming grandDAUGHTER. How neat is that!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow, a new grand-daughter and beautiful new flowers all at once - you are having a great autumn! Strange that only one plant came up - sure hope you get more next year.
Is that a Cleome that you planted? If so watch for seed pods on it and they do reseed....crongats on the baby girl!!!
What are the purple flowers called anyway? I didn't see the name. I am going to plant some black eyed susan seeds (I love them, one of my favorites) you do plant them in the fall don't you?
I think fairisle knitting is beautiful but I don't care to do it myself. I prefer doing things with cables and lace. My mom has made some beautiful sweaters with the fairisle knitting.
Good luck!
I really like the shade of purple in those flowers. Wish you lived by me so you could teach me to knit! I've always wanted to learn.
Are those ever pretty! It's a shame you only got one plant out of a whole package of seeds.
Congratulations on the grand-daughter! :)
That late bloomer was worth the wait. very pretty.
CONGRATS on the baby girl news! You will be knitting a lot in the upcoming days. ;)
I'm sorry you only got one plant from that pack of seeds. It's pretty, but not that pretty. I do like your daylily, though.
Your flower photos are all so beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Something had to be faulty with the package. These plants are usually easy to grow here. And make beutiful back of the garden plants.
I think these were worth waiting for. They are lovely but only one plant from a package is dishearting. I hope they reseed for you. That forth shot is gorgeous.
Leedra: What a beauty of a flower. Tom posted on roasting Chestnuts, you should read it.

These are pretty! I will have to consider trying some Cleome. I hope you show the Christmas stockings when you are done. I've been working on 4 crazy patch ones and am almost done...and rather tired of them.
I hope I can remember that name! I have seen these and liked them but never knew their name.
