Tree Swallows in birdhouse on deck - Part 2

We arrived home from vacation just in time to witness the
Tree Swallows as they were learning to fly.
Or not.
Two still in the birdhouse, that seem to not want to leave the comfort of home.

The one in the background is one of the babies that has come out.

The juvenile is gray brown instead of the glossy greenish blue of the adult.

In the last photo you can see the baby is not too happy about not being fed,

but they are trying to get the 2 still in the birdhouse to fly.

Vacation was not much of a photography vacation.
We had a great time with the family, didn't think much about photography.
Click here to see the first post about these Tree Swallows on my deck.
Notice the split in the birdhouse, you can see why we never thought the birds would use it.

Great pictures, Leedra. I imagine the other two juveniles will be flying before much longer.

Welcome Home!!! I missed you so much... Lots of our'blog friends' have been gone. SO--it's been a slow week.

Glad you got home in time to see the Swallows fledge... I know with my bluebirds, Mama and Daddy quit feeding them when they think it's time to leave the nest.

Cute pictures!!!!

Glad you had fun with family... I'm sure that Mason had a GREAT time.. Have you been to see the new baby yet since getting home???

Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Leedra,
Glad you are back! The Swallows we have want to build nests of mud and sticks in our garage. We discourage this because they are so messy.

Dorothy - That sounds like Barn Swallows, they are beautiful but messy. They have orange on their chest. Other than that they look the same to me.

That last photo is quite humorous! ;) "I don't wanna learn to fly, just feed me some more!"

Leedra,
Glad you are back..love your baby fledges..esp that wide open mouth in your last pix. I think all us Moms know how that Mommy swallow must feel by now..all that feeding..can you see the almost smile on her face that this one will soon be responsible for feeding himself!! ? ;-)
