Cabbage White Butterflies on Purple Liatris

There are really just 2 photos here. First I show straight out of the camera, then the soft focus of the same photograph.
The 2nd photo now.

There is more difference on the second photo, the first one already had some soft focus to it. This is about all I can do with a photo when I get it to the computer, well, I can change to black and white or sepia. Most photographs you see on my blog or website are straight out of the camera. Which one do you like the best? Oh, by the way, these are a Cabbage White butterfly on purple liatris blooms.

We have been spending a LOT of time in Rockwood (no internet there). This past weekend we went home for a few hours, just long enough to mow the yard. I am at Wendy's right now, and Noah is waking from his nap. So off I go again.

Oh, I just love these! I love the contrast of the white on the purple. And purple is my favorite color.

Initially I liked the sharper focused onces, but after looking at them I liked the softer focus. I guess it all depends on who you are going to use the pictures.

Regardless, they are all beatiful.

Leedra I think all of these are very beautiful. I think a lot of your pictures have a soft look that is very attractive to me.

I like the second from the bottom best, but they are all nice.

Sounds like life for you is great --but busy... I know you must hae been in 7th heaven today with Noah!!!!

I like the photos straight out of the camera the best. But--I'm not into fancy photography like some people are.

They are great--and I love that butterfly.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think I just lost my comment.
I was saying as to the first (all are beautiful) I like the soft focus and to the second I like the original one best.
It's always good to get away from the internet once in awhile. :) I need to do it more often.

Why don't you post an easy question Leedra? I guess it does depend on how you are going to use the photos.......I love all of them!

Oops, I didn't say my favorite! I guess I got all excited in the beautifulness! I think I like the 1st one best.

Both types are beautiful, Leedra. I think each one has its own benefits. The softer look seems to be what one would/could use on a note card. And the shots straight out of the camera look like something you would post/publish for documentary purposes.

I know totally nothing about photography so when I actually play around it with it I am amazed at the things that can be done. It is incredible. The soft focus is most nice.

I'm a "straight-out-of-the-camera" purist. Otherwise, it hardly seems fair to use so much editing. The skill should be in the hands of the person holding the camera, not the one on the laptop using a fancy program.

Gee...such a tough question..I kinda like them both..the contrast of the colors are extremely nice!!
Can't pick, both have a strong appeal! :)

The soft focus is a very nice feature and I have used it but only occasionally. Maybe I should use it more often. I really like the effect on your photos.

Hard for me to choose a favorite Leedra; I like them both. Purple is my favorite garden color and the white with the purple is so striking. Hope you enjoy the rest of the week. I have missed you.

It would depend on the usage of the image as to which version I prefer.

In a documentary type situation such as a book or a magazine article, I would use the unaltered ones, but in a greeting card, or an artistic photo, I could go with either version. The ones with the blur would definitely work well in those cases.

What a beautiful photo, leedra. I love the contrast between the white butterfly and the purple of the flower.I like them ALL!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Beautiful shots! For some reason I can never get a good shot of this butterfly. Mine always look slightly out of focus. I saw some today and didn't like any of the photos I took. Yours are so crisp and defined. I like the first shot and the last shot...not too helpful.

I think both versions of these pictures are wonderful, but if I had to choose I would take the version straight from the camera.

The soft focus looks great on these delicate butterflies! Beautiful!!

Exquisite! I, too, like the soft focus - especially with this subject matter and style of photo.

The white butterfly on a green background with the purple flower is so pretty.
