The first 2 photos of the Wood Stork were taken at Lake Seminole Park in February 2008.
This was the first time I saw a Wood Stork,
and had no idea what it was.
The last 2 photos are from the St Augustine Alligator Farm Rookery, taken April 2008.
The Rookery is full of birds that just come there to nest,
they are not in captivity.

I don't think I have ever seen one. Thanks for sharing. Love the last picture.
Leedra,
You captured some neat pics of these storks. They still possess that pre-historic look around their faces!! Love that last photo, such fluffy feathers and sooo white!
Nice post!
Ha---I must be worried about our weather this morning, Leedra. When I first glanced at that first picture, it looked like a track runner in position ---ready to go, waiting for the whistle.... How Funny!!!!
Great pictures.
Have a great day.
Let's hope for no damage here the next couple of days due to the upcoming freeze.
Hugs,
Betsy
I like the last picture in particular. These two are just waiting to have their picture taken.
Blessings,Ruth
These remind me of my 1st sighting during an air boat ride on a large lake in Florida many, many years ago. Thanks. FAB
Betsy - I agree, I have been making plans around getting to the smokies for the wildflowers. If there were any there yet they won't be after tonight. Guess it won't be worth going for a couple more weeks now.
If it is a sign of anything, the birds in Rockwood sure were active this morning.
I love that last photo with the two heads peeking up together:-)
Leedra,
Great captures of the storks!
I too love the last photo...they sure are strange looking birds!
All great photos, I like the 1st one where he's obviously digging up a good meal! :-)
P.S. We had about 4 inches of snow and our furnace just went out (at our downstate home.) Wish I was at the cabin!!
Very interesting and I love the photos Leedra.
All great shots Leedra!
I really love the last shot against that blue sky - beautiful!
Awesome pictures. I haven't see a wood stork before and they are very unique looking.
I had never seen nor heard of the wood stork...so glad to see it on your blog. Also, it always makes me smile to think of these long-legged birds nexting in trees!
I don't think I've ever seen a wood stork either. Definitely an interesting looking bird.
