Cumberland Mountain State Park in August

These photographs were taken when I visited the Cumberland Mountain State Park toward the end of August, 2008.
I went back November 5th and photographed this bridge with the fall colors all around it.
You can view the fall colors around this bridge by clicking here.
Notice the duck in the photograph below. The same duck I posted trying to capture something under the water, can view it here.
This park is so beautiful, but this is my favorite spot at the park.

Watery Wednesday - November 12- Cumberland Mtn State Park

I took these photographs at Cumberland Mountain State Park close to Crossville, Tennessee.
They were taken one week ago. The color was at it's peak in the valley, but up on the mountain the colors had already passed their peak.
Was still able to get enough good photographs to be worth the short drive up the mountain. I posted some other photographs last week at the same lake, click here to check them out.
I moved to the other side of the water and found this sign. And then made a photograph of the bridge from this side.

Overlooking the valley early morning

As I went on up the highway going to Cumberland Mtn State Park I had to stop at some of the overlooks. It was still early enough the fog was just rising.
Back in the far distance you can Watts Bar Lake. The stack is the Watts Bar Nuclear Reactor. One is in operation, and they have begun the process of starting the other one up. That little spot to the right of the smoke rising is the 2nd reactor.
The last photograph was taken in Grandview, Tennessee. Grandview is about halfway up the plateau. It is very apparent how the area was named. I think the first 3 photographs were probably taken standing in Grandview, but I don't know the area well enough yet to know if I was or not. If not, it was just before I got to Grandview.

The highway as I started up the plateau

These were taken as I left Spring City to go up the highway to the plateau. The first one was taken in the first parking lot after I got on the highway. I wasn't even out of Spring City yet.
The rest were just a little further up the highway.
It was a very nice early morning drive.

Cumberland Mountain State Park

Wednesday morning I went to the Cumberland Mountain State Park, close to Crossville, Tennessee.
Crossville is on a plateau close to Spring City, Tennessee. I go to Spring City a couple of days a week because my husband now works in Spring City.
Local time these were taken around 7:30AM. I forgot about the time difference (it is just 18 miles away) and could not figure out why the park office was not open yet. The fall colors on the plateau had already peaked, but I was able to get some good photos.
