We went to Cades Cove Sunday. It was HOT, so not too many animals out and about. The flowers were pretty. First we saw some gladiolus in the edge of the woods. The trees are growing up so that they don't bloom as well as they would out in the open. This one looks so delicate.</div>

I went to teach Aunt Perry Nell to knit. She did very well, which shows you that you are never too old to learn new things (don't tell anybody, but she is 75 years young). We had a very good visit. Then about the time a few more came up the gutter replacement happened. I just keep saying next year we will have our flowers back.</em></div>

<br /><div align="center"><em>I am just glad some butterflies have decided to stop for a visit. Right now my Crepe Myrtles are helping too. Don't think I have ever noticed the butterflies on the Crepe Myrtles before this year, maybe they are 2nd choice to all my other blooms. My driveway washed out due some heavy rains. While I was working my husband came home (works out of town) to straighten out the driveway. He called me and said we had something unusual at the 4 o'clocks. I am trying to tell him over the phone how to use my D-SLR. And that is when this moth shows up. I told Hap I thought it was a Carolina Sphinx. I was close in appearance, but wrong. And once Hap said it is a Five Spotted Hawkmoth I see the differences. </em></div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tXpqXbC46-c/THGOcUyq3EI/AAAAAAAAHxk/RmvC8wbvQpA/s1600/_MG_6222_8x10.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tXpqXbC46-c/THGOcUyq3EI/AAAAAAAAHxk/RmvC8wbvQpA/s400/_MG_6222_8x10.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><em>I don't know if this moth just comes out at night, or if it just wants the 4 o'clocks and doesn't like any of the other flowers that I have. But I have not seen it at any other time. There we were at dusk, sitting in the lawn chairs waiting on the 4 o'clocks to open. They open and less than 2 minutes later the moth shows up. What internal clocks they must have.
